"BLACK WATER"

Welcome

"Black Water" is feature film written and directed by Brian Fairbanks and produced by Pawnshop Cowboys, Ltd. The film will be shot on location in New Orleans, Louisiana's 9th Ward neighborhood in the spring of 2010 and details the saga of ten-year-old Jordan Green, who is separated from his family after their eviction.

Over the course of a series of dark-comic adventures, Jordan is forced to get a job parking cars, at which he finds a girlfriend, begins drinking and smoking cigarettes, and growing up way too fast. The film is a "grand metaphor for what has happened to this city after Katrina, with housing razed, families separated, and the harsh reality of life in America clashing with the indomitable and humorous spirit of New Orleans."

He admitted to having reservations about whether the script was "high concept" enough for distribution threatrically, and we managed to convince him to the point where he enthusiastically changed his mind and is giving his full support to it. We're well on our way.

Spotlight

"Black Water" is one of the first independent feature films made in New Orleans since Katrina. Using local actors in supporting roles and a mostly volunteer crew, the film can be made using high production values and at a low cost. But it cannot be done without funding.
